Geo-Environmental Engineer

Salary: £28k – £33k+

We have a unique opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the CJ Associates team, ideally someone with over one year’s experience working in a similar field. Accountable to the Line / Project manager, this role provides support to the Geo division and is largely a site based, outdoors role.

The role is based from our Bristol Office, but can predominantly be worked from any location within the UK, as the role involves work in the field and travel, with overnight stays in local accommodation.

Accountabilities

  • Supervision and management of ground investigations
  • Travel throughout the UK (with working away from home required ~ 80% of time), remainder of time working  out of the Bristol Office (20% of role)
  • Logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2020
  • Managing ground investigation works, including pricing of works, liaising with suppliers and preparation of health and safety documentation.
  • Management of on-site safety, paperwork and subcontractors.
  • Adherence to working instructions, as specified by internal and external clients.
  • Factual reporting, data processing and data management
  • Completion of Desk Based Studies.
  • Assisting senior staff with project related duties.
  • Overseeing department equipment – allocation, hire, servicing and repairs.
  • Attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses, such as PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, towing license, CAT, First Aid and manual handling training.
  • Adherence to SHEQ policies and procedures.
  • Maintenance of ground investigation engineering equipment.

About You

  • BSc in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geology / Geography
  • Ability to supervise and manage  ground investigation contracts.
  • Experience in compliance with Construction, Design & Management regulations and production of Health & Safety documentation.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety and improving ways of working.
  • Experience of people management.
  • Flexible in your approach to work, being able to manage and adapt to change.
  • Self-motivated, solutions focused, organised, with effective time management and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work to deadlines, work part of a multi-disciplinary team and also work solo, using own initiative.
  • Clear, open communication style with an ability to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and at various locations throughout the UK, when required.
  • Adaptable to variable working environments with a love of the outdoors.
  • A manual, valid UK driving license.
  • Unrestricted work rights in United Kingdom.
